Second Chance hiring Consulting

Many organizations are open to providing opportunities to qualified individuals with criminal backgrounds but don’t know where to start. If your organization is curious about how you can have more inclusive hiring practices, take advantage of possible tax benefits, and build a more robust workforce, we should talk.

 Our services include:

  • In-depth review and consulting to determine if second-chance employment is a good fit for your organization

  • Review of your current hiring practices

  • How to move from a “case-by-case” model of hiring to having a bias-free system to evaluate and select second chance applicants

  • Identification of community organizations and programs that can help you source qualified candidates

  • Recruiting and retention strategies

  • Recommendations on how to make job postings more accessible to people with criminal records

Workplace Return Support for Employees with Substance Issues

Through the use of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and health insurance that offers coverage for substance treatment, many employers do a good job of supporting workers who struggle with substance use or need to take a leave of absence to address their issues.

Unfortunately, there is very little formal support for the employee when they return to work. By offering our “Reclaim My Career” program to your employees, you can help them make the transition back to the job, re-acclimate them into the workplace, and help them rebuild their reputations within the workforce. This kind of outreach can have a ripple effect, as coworkers witness fellow employees being valued and supported.

We recently had the opportunity to have Ty Reed train our team around how to support youth and young adult job seekers in disclosing their criminal backgrounds to employers.  This is a crucial coaching topic for employment program personnel to master, as conviction histories are a massive barrier hindering many from getting into the workforce.  Ty’s training was easy to understand and covered all the elements we needed; additionally, Ty was able to modify the training to specifically address the population we are serving.  From the moment I met Ty, I experienced him to be professional, prepared, and very flexible to work with; he clearly has expertise in this field and is a superb trainer.  I would highly recommend Ty to anyone seeking to become more proficient in helping individuals address employment barriers.
